The finer details of this challenge can be found at Aussie Mummy Bloggers. The gist of the $20.00 Kmart challenge is simple – I have $20.00 and a Kmart catalogue for inspiration, what items would I buy? After having a good look at the online catalogue, which has the title “everything for kids at low prices”, I decided to let 5 year old Jacob loose on this challenge.
He carefully scrolled through the catalogue declaring he didn’t need the “girl stuff” or the “baby stuff” and ooohing and aaahing over all things Ben 10 who is of course his hero! He quite proudly stated “I have that t-shirt – I picked that the other day” to the Ben 10 shirt on page 21.(I have also grabbed the Spiderman one and put that away for Christmas, – sssshhhhhh!!!).
So after a lot of thought, Jacob has decided with his imaginary $20.00 he will be buying a 17” licensed skateboard – Ben 10 of course for $15.00 on page 15 And a new T-shirt to wear to kinder – the boy one NOT the girl one – for $5.00 on page 1
Honestly, I thought he may have been swayed by the great priced lollies on page 17. But my clever little man had a different plan for those. Since he did all this “work” for me, he should be rewarded with a packet of snakes for $1.00 on page 17!!!
Catalogues are such fun! Love how he skipped the lollies and went for such practical choices! :)
ReplyDeleteYou go mom!! Teaching him how to bargain shop while he's young enough to learn it!! :-) More kids should be let loose with $20.00 on a K-Mart spending spree!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashleigh - I just loved how he thought he should be rewarded :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in the challenge. Good luck!
