Meet Me On Monday 23/04/12

Welcome to the 64th edition of
"Meet Me On Monday!"

Blogging is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is this person!?" I know them...but yet I don't know them! I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great way for all of us to "meet" each other!

Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

My Answers
1. I keep putting off _________
Getting rid of Jacob’s baby clothes, cot, etc. I’ve been meaning to do it for ages but just can’t let go of them yet – he’s only 7 :)

2. What is your current weather?
As usual for Melbourne it’s all over the flipping place. Today, I started out in 3/4 pants, a t-shirt and thongs and am now wearing a fleecy hoodie, tracksuit pants and socks.

3. What is the nicest room in your house?
That’s really hard at the moment since so many of them have Jeff’s half done renovations in them. Usually, I would easily answer my kitchen but at the moment I have holes in the wall either side of the pantry as Jeff is making it wider and deeper for me :)

4. What jewellery do you never take off?
I seem to always have one necklace that I will wear for ages and ages before changing it. At the moment it is one that Matthew got me for Christmas.

5. Do you eat a snack before bed?
Not really. Occasionally, I will get a craving for something but mostly I’m done after dinner.

1. Did you prank, get pranked or ignore April Fool's Day?
I was going to totally ignore it but, with Daylight savings finishing the whole day turning into a prank simply by not changing the kitchen clock – mass confusion over the course of the day :)

2. What is the most unusual thing you have in your pantry or refrigerator right now?
I have a few crayons sitting in the freezer at the moment. They got a little melted and weird looking so I rolled out a but and popped them in. Honestly I had totally forgotten they were in there until I read this question.

3. If you were in the "Miss America" (or another) talent competition, what would your talent be?
Hmmm, there’s nothing that I would usually volunteer to get up and do in front of people but I can burp the alphabet – classy huh!

4. What is one thing you miss about being a kid?
Having my mother clean my room and do my laundry for me.

5. If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to?
Just my first name right??? I would just change it to my middle name Patrice which I love.

1. How do you like your eggs?
As long as they are cooked I’m not really fussed.

2. Who is the last person you spoke to on the phone?
My son Joshua

3. Do you have a place you keep 'junk' in your home?
The garage is mostly where I store any junk that I don’t want to get rid of. I have a designated spot in most rooms for “junk” that belongs in that room but just really has no true home

4. What is on your 'spring cleaning' list?
Don’t have a "’spring cleaning’ list at the moment since it’s Autumn here :)

5. What blog post have you written recently that you'd like more people to know about? (don't forget to link it up)
Happy Sapphire Anniversary is a post I wrote recently to celebrate my parents wedding anniversary.

2. What is your favourite room in your house?
3. What 'gadget' do you have that you can't live without?

1. What are your plans for St. Patrick's Day?
I really don’t have any special plans for St. Patricks Day :(

2. What is your favourite room in your house?
At the moment it would be half a room. I love my little office area that is in a little nook at the end of our dining room.

3. What 'gadget' do you have that you can't live without?
It would have to be my iPhone. I {heart} my iPhone and feel completely lost without it.

4. What will your first thought be when you learn that you won a lottery?
We could pay off the mortgage!

5. Other than Acting Balanced and your own, what is your favourite blog to read?
There are so many good ones to choose from and I love reading them all. So, my favourite one this very second (because I was reading a recipe there about an hour ago) is The Organised Housewife.

1. What is on your bedside table?
Pretty boring - iPhone dock/clock radio, lamp, hand cream, cordless phone, note paper and pan

2. Hardback, Paperback or E-Reader?
I prefer a “real” book over an e-reader. not fussed on hardback or paperback as long as I can whack it in my handbag.

3. What is your 'go to' drink of choice?
I’m a coffee girl and love that i can take it with me in pretty and cute mugs :)

4. How do you like to spend your birthday?
Always with my family.

5. Finish this sentence - I would never be caught dead in…..
Hmmm… I think over the years, I have pretty much worn everything I wouldn’t be caught dead in now. But, I solemnly swear that I will never, ever wear a jumpsuit again (especially a turquoise one, belted at the waist eeekkkk!)

Meet Me On Monday

OK, I know that it’s Wednesday, but I have just found that this meme is now being hosted by Acting Balanced. I really loved doing this meme when Java from Never Growing Old ran it. it’s simple and interesting :)

Here are today's Questions:

1. What was the first live concert you ever attended?
2. What colours look best on you?
3. What is one thing about you that most people wouldn't know?
4. Who would you call to be bailed out of jail?
5. What do you think is the greatest invention of your lifetime and why?

My Answers:

1. What was the first live concert you ever attended?
In 1985, I was allowed to attend my first concert with my two best friends, Jo and Ang. They bought me a ticket to John Mellencamp’s Scarecrow Concert in Melbourne. I still remember that they wrapped up the ticket and hid it inside a tampon box, which of course, I opened in the middle of the street :) For your viewing pleasure, I had added a video of “Rain on the Scarecrow” live from Farm Aid. I still {heart} John Mellencamp, and when I grow up, I still might marry him *sigh*

2. What colours look best on you?
Black, bright blues and purples, I think. If they don’t suit me, I really need to get myself some new friends, because no one has said anything………

3. What is one thing about you that most people wouldn't know?
OK, I’ve sat and pondered this question for ages. Even left the laptop, had dinner, watched TV and then came back to it. And still, nothing! I guess I’m pretty much an open book and will blabber away about anything to anyone :)

4. Who would you call to be bailed out of jail?
Ummmm, maybe I’m not really a grown up, because I would call my Daddy :)

5. What do you think is the greatest invention of your lifetime and why?
Hmmm, with just of 40 years of inventions to choose from, I really want to say something really techy, like laptops, digital cameras or an iPhone (all which I love) But I would have to say, as the mother of five children, the temporal thermometer wins hands down. Why?? Have you ever tried to take the temperature of one of your kids when they aren’t well and wiggle all over the place. Holding a mercury or digital thermometer under their arm or balanced under their tongue really sucks! I have the Microlife Infrared Forehead Thermometer and I love it – too easy peasy to take temps at home now.

1. What feature of the opposite sex do you notice first?
For me, it’s the eyes. It’s just not with the opposite sex - it’s one of the first things I notice about people in general.

2. Do you talk to yourself?
OMG, all the time. I do it out loud, so it can be rather embarrassing when I do it in public :)

3. What is your current relationship status?
Jeff and I have been together for eight years and married for five.

4. Do you have a garden?
Ummm, technically I have a garden . There’s garden beds around our house and sometimes things grow there, sometimes they die. At the moment, the front ones have just been covered in fresh tanbark and the back ones kind of take care of themselves.

5. What is your favourite liquorice flavour?
Raspberry!!!! Great, now I want raspberry liquorice. I can even taste it!

Answers:
1. What is your favourite kind of fudge?
To be honest, I love fudge any way it comes but, if I have to pick an absolute favourite it would be caramel.

2. Is there snow outside your window?
Well, it’s summer here so usually the safe bet would be no. Just before Christmas we did have snow - here’s an article from the SMH about our summer snow fall.

3. What is your favourite meal of the day?
Dinner! Cooking is something that actually relaxes me. For me it’s part of a winding down at the end (or start sometimes) of the day

4. Do you text on your cell phone?
Sure do. I {heart} my phone :)

5. Waffles or pancakes?
Pancakes with Maple syrup!!!!

Meet Me On Monday

Answers:
1. Have you (only you..not a group) ever won first place in anything?
A few for Judo when I was a teenager and some for tenpin bowling over the years.

2. Are your toes always painted (sorry guys...this question for girls only)?
Not always but they are at the moment - a lovely shade of pink :)

3. What colour eyes do you have?
Hazel until I cry - then they are a bright green

4. Look to your left....what do you see?
How sad - just a Kelly Green wall, so I made my pic more interesting by adding a smiley child :)

5. Soft cookies or crunchy cookies?
Soft - especially with chocolate chips in them that are slightly melted and gooey - yummo!!!

I didn’t make any this year. Actually, I hadn’t even thought about New Year resolutions until I saw this question.

Sleeping - I worked night shift last night and I have just been greeted with a cup of coffee to start my ~~afternoon~~ day

Bacon and eggs last night for my “breakfast” before work

We will be heading to my friend Meghan’s house to ring in the New Year.

According to the gym I am 165cm tall

At the end of our dining room I have a little “office” nook

Answers
1. What is your favourite way to eat chicken?
Hmmmmm… favourite way….. I love chicken no matter how it’s cooked - as long as it’s cooked. I would have to say one of my favourite ways is roasted. I love a good roast chicken during winter, summer, autumn or spring :)

2. Have you decorated for Christmas yet?
Not yet. There’s no sign of Christmas in our house until the 5th of December as my eldest son’s birthday is on the 4th.

3. What is your favourite article of clothing?
My pyjamas! I would live in them if I could. As soon as I get in the door they are the first things I put on. I probably own more nightwear than daywear :)

4. Do you pay your bills online or write cheques the old way?
Online - it’s just way too easy and I can do it in my pyjamas!!!

5. Do you make Christmas cookies?
I love all Christmas baking - cookies, cakes, slices.

Meet Me On Monday

2. Where will you eat on Thanksgiving?

5. What is your favourite kind of seafood?

Answers:
1. How many pillows do you sleep with?
I love having my bed look pretty with pillows but for sleeping I just have two. One firm one and a soft on on top :)

2. Where will you eat on Thanksgiving?
Unfortunately, I have no idea when Thanksgiving is, so I did a quick wikipedia search. It’s not something that is celebrated here in Australia so I guess I will be eating at home as per usual :)

3. Would you rather go to a party or host a party?
Hmmmm…. can I say both. I enjoy all the planning that goes into having a party - the food, decorations, music, etc but I also love being the guest.

4. How many purses (for the guys..wallets) do you own?
I’m very glad this wasn’t asking how many handbags!! Purses - just the one. Yes, that’s right one.

5. What is your favourite kind of seafood?
Calamari - don’t care how it’s cooked, I just love it :)
