Time for a bit of a change

Well, hello there :) I thought since I had taken a bit of a break from blogging, it would be nice to come back to a fresh new blog. And here it is. I’m quite proud of myself for being able to get the title banner pretty much how I could see it in my head. I’m sure I will do a few more tweaks on it before I am completely happy with it but it’s not bad for a first attempt, even if I say so myself.

So, I have completed my first year at Uni. I would have finished in September but after I received what I am calling my “nerd letter” from the Uni congratulating me on my HD for one of my subjects, I decided to take on one subject over summer.  I’m still trying to decide if this was a big mistake or a blessing in disguise.  Unfortunately, for me, it was the most uninspiring subject.  I spent just as much time on this one subject as I had on multiple subjects the previous semesters. I finished the final assignment and was just praying that I had done enough to pass as there was no way I could bear to do it again. You can imagine my relief when the results were posted and I had done it!

Doing this subject has helped me decide that, yes, I am going to take this semester off and decide if I really want to continue. I know that I really love the learning, but at this stage of my life do I really need the stress that comes with it?? I know that there are plenty  of other short courses and workshops I can do, so I need to decide if that would be enough for me. At least I can now decide without stress :)

Must say, I am very happy to be back at my blog. I have missed blogging and have a stack of little notes that I have written over my break from when I have though “must blog that”. Hopefully, now they will all be able to be put into words.

OMG! I did it! I can’t believe I did it!!!!

Well, I’ve been sweating over this since I sent in my application in September 2010 and last night the wait was finally over. I DID IT! I’ve been accepted to CDU to do my Bachelor of Nursing!! I love working as an EN, but I just want/need to learn more.

I was completely devastated last year when I didn’t get an offer but, in hindsight, I’ve had a year to work in the field and I know now that this is definitely what I want to do.

It was nerve wrecking last night when I was trying to access the SATAC website and I was getting no where! I kept refreshing (just like everyone else), walking away and coming back to try again. The longer I was waiting, the more anxious I was getting. I saw on a forum that other people had found out they had received offers together with a nice little link that led my straight to my destiny.

And what was the first thing I did when I saw the message that determined my future??? I screamed, then I cried. Tears of relief, happiness, joy, frustration.

Thank you to everyone that has congratulated and “liked” my facebook status. Special mention to my awesome friend and fellow EN and Bachelor of Nursing student Loretta who posted this as her status last night: “Is dedicating this status to my lovely friend Natalie Matthews who got into nursing at Uni today. I'm so proud and excited for her. Now I have a special friend to share the ride.” I’m so lucky to have such a supportive friend like you - Loretta, you are simply awesome :)

Abscence Note

You know those people that start off blogging, then vanish and never reappear......... I'm not one :) I did have good intentions to blog regularly, but since I have gone back to school a few things have gotten in my way - like the small amount of reading I have been doing.

I did my first placement in April/May and had to write a few journals regarding my experience. By the time I had finished with those I just didn't have anymore "sharing" in me. Hopefully, now I have gotten myself into a much better routine for school, studying, home stuff etc I will be able to find time to be here.
